Delete yourself from the internet by pressing this button

The internet can be a beautiful and horrible place at the same time, and it isn’t weird to sometimes feel like you want to leave — there’s wasn’t an easy way out, until now. Swedish developers Wille Dahlbo and Linus Unnebäck created Deseat.me , which offers a way to wipe your entire existence off the internet in a few clicks. When logging into the website with a Google account it scans for apps and services you’ve created an account for, and creates a list of them with easy delete links.  Every account it finds gets paired with an easy delete link pointing to the unsubscribe page for that service. Within in a few clicks you’re freed from it, and depending on how long you need to work through the entire list, you can be account-less within the hour. If you’re getting tired of social media and internet-induced stress in general, it’s the quickest way to get back to a state of tranquility — and to be honest, that doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

Check Out The Modernized Floppy Disk (Trust me, This Ain't Your Average Disk)

Even if you use computers on a regular basis, you probably haven’t seen a floppy disk in close to a decade. Their limited storage capacity is laughable by today’s standards, but that’s not to say floppy disks are completely useless yet. At least not if you cram one full of batteries. Instead of a thin piece of plastic covered in magnetic particles that can store a paltry 1.4 MB, inside this faux floppy disk, made by Thumbs Up UK, you’ll find a 2,500 mAh battery that can be used to recharge most smartphones at least a couple of times. On top you’ll find a microUSB port for charging the floppy disk itself, and an old-school USB port for connecting your device’s charging cable. There’s no pricing information just yet, but we’re really hoping they get sold in packs of ten like they were back in the day.

Samsung's Galaxy S8 will include an AI assistant

Samsung isn't wasting any time before it makes use of Viv's artificial intelligence know-how. In a an indirect confirmation of rumors, the tech giant has revealed that the upcoming Galaxy S8 will include an AI assistant as one of its star attractions. It's not offering clues as to what this virtual helper will do, but it will let developers "attach and upload services" to extend the AI's functionality beyond what you get out of the box. That's not much different than what Apple and Google are offering for their own assistants, but it may be what Samsung isn't talking about that's special -- Viv can create its own programs and understand complex intent in a way many AIs can't. As for other features, or a release date? Samsung isn't talking. However, a recent Wall Street Journal report claims that Samsung delayed development of the S8 by weeks to help identify the Galaxy Note 7's battery fire problem, potentially pushing back the unvei...

AT&T Reaches Deal to Buy Time Warner for More Than $80 billion

AT&T has reached a deal to buy Time Warner for between $105 and $110 per share, The Wall Street Journal is reporting. That puts the deal's value at more than $80 billion. A formal announcement from the two companies is expected as soon as Saturday night. The deal will allow AT&T to expand into the television business, picking up channels like HBO and CNN. Time Warner shares surged about 2.76% during after-hours trading. Former Fox executive Peter Chernin will likely oversee Time Warner's operations, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Chernin declined a comment to The Hollywood Reporter. The Time Warner deal will likely face intense scrutiny as it goes through the regulatory process. However, there is some precedent. Comcast, another operator, was allowed to acquire NBC Universal in 2013. If the acquisition happens, AT&T would own a host of content from major networks like HBO, CNN, and TNT. It also signals an attempt by the operator to vertically integrate d...

Facebook Messenger's Hidden Games and How to Play

Facebook’s Messenger is one of the most used messaging apps on the planet. And while there are plenty GIFs, stickers and photos to throw into your messages, sometimes you might just want to goof off and play a quick game with your friends. To that end, Facebook (FB) has included a few hidden games in Messenger. I’m talking about games that let you play basketball, soccer and chess against your friends while you’re waiting for a dentist appointment or in line at the grocery store. Here’s how to play. Basketball I’m a New York Mets and New York Giants fan, and since the Mets have been eliminated from the playoffs and the Giants already look like they’re destined for anything but the playoffs, I’m already looking forward to basketball season. Ideally, that would consist of my trash-talking my friends’ favorite teams and shooting hoops with them after work. But since I don’t always have the time to hit the court, and I don’t own any console sports games, Facebook’s bask...
