To connect a china phone to serve as a dial-up modem on pc: first of all connect the CHINKO phone to ur pc with Bluetooth, infrared or usb cable. But the most preferable is Bluetooth, as most china phones do not have pc suites yet, no drivers for the usb connection and infrared is seriously joining the dinosaurs to extinct. After the connection, try to take note of the dial-up COM port of the device by clicking on the Bluetooth icon in the lower right side of ur task bar, click on ‘show devices’ or equivalent and look for it in the ‘services’ of ur phone that u will see there. Ok let’s go to the REAL thing…
Go to START---CONTROL PANEL----NETWORK CONNECTION----go to CREATE A NEW CONNECTION (located under NETWORK TASK beneath or by the side of that window)---click on NEXT--- choose CONNECT TO THE INTERNET---select SETUP MY CONNECTION MANUALLY---then, CONNECT USING A DIAL-UP MODEM---HERE, SELECT THE COM PORT OF UR DEVICE U EARLIER TOOK NOTE OF(remember? Hey, abeg-oo hope u no dey forget quick quick too much)--- TYPE your ISP NAME whether MTN, ZAIN, GLO, ETIABA, ORANGE, MANGO, na u saka---type *99# in the phone number everyone---- for MTN users type web for d username and password, for zain, etisalat and glo users just put wap there----select ADD SHORTCUT TO DESKTOP and… FINISH…..HEY, NOT YET!

In the window that will prompt up immediately u click on finish, try dis: click on DIAL u will find out that even if u wait from January to December it will still not connect. Close it and open ot again. Click on PROPERTIES----go to NETWORKING bar---under TYPE OF DIAL-UP SERVER I AM CALLING, select SLIP: UNIX connection---click OK and exit. RESTART the connection and it will smoothly connect. But the problem now is for our applications like freedom, Mozilla, IE, etc to join in this progress. If u open ur browser or any other application u will notice that it will not even slightly respond to any change.
THE reason for this problem is simply becos of the change in the mode of connection to netservers of the different operating system. Remember we changed the PPP connection to SLIP connection. Well WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS are adapted to operate with POINT TO POINT CONNECTION {PPP} while UNIX and LINUX OPERATING SYSTEMS operate with SERIAL LINE INTERNET PROTOCOL [SLIP]. And luckily for most mobile users our fones have been configured to this PPP connection of the widely used WINDOWS operating system. The question now inorder to deliver our CHI-CHI is how to configure SLIP into WINDOWS operating system. Once this is done I wont see any difference between Chinese fones and other fones as contemporary china fones now have inbuilt j2me platform that allows them to receive any java application, including operamini, msn, games, and d rest dat u kno
